Before turning a gun on himself Tuesday afternoon, a man fatally shot a woman who was breaking up with him, and her friend, in a west valley apartment, according to Metro Police.

Officers responded about 11:30 a.m. to a report of a man’s body in front of an apartment in the 2100 block of Echo Bay Street, near Buffalo Drive and Lake Mead Boulevard, police said.

The man, the woman’s friend, had been shot with a rifle, and investigators found a bullet casing in front of a nearby apartment, police said. After knocking on the door of that unit for several minutes, officers went inside and found two more bodies, police said.

The woman had a fatal gunshot wound, and the gunman, who was dead with a rifle near his body, had a bullet in his head, police said.

An account provided by police said the woman was in the midst of breaking up with the gunman when he arrived at the apartment and found her and her friend, police said.

The investigation suggests that after the male victim was shot, he stumbled outside the apartment to get help before falling dead, police said.
