A woman and a pet were killed Wednesday afternoon when flames engulfed a bedroom of a west valley house, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue.
Crews responded shortly after 3 p.m. to the one-story house on Sienna Ridge Drive, near Charleston Boulevard and Fort Apache Road, and found an unconscious woman in a back bedroom, officials said.
Firefighters pulled her out, but she was declared dead sometime after. A dog also was killed, officials said.
Two people were displaced and the flames caused about $35,000 in damage, officials said. The cause remained under investigation Wednesday evening.
The Trauma Intervention Program of Southern Nevada dispatched volunteers to provide emotional support.
