Thorsten Balmer carried the ball 16 times for 169 yards and four touchdowns tonight for the Boulder City High football team in a 41-3 victory against visiting Western.

It was the third straight win for the Eagles, who last season played an independent schedule to help develop its program. The strategy appears to have worked.

“This group of kids has been competitive," Boulder City coach Chris Morelli said of his sophomore-dominated team. “Last year as freshmen, they went 8-1 or 7-1. They have that winning mentality. They expect to win. They won’t lay down.”

Gino Carroll had eight rushes for 55 yards and a touchdown. Parker Reynolds passed for 70 yards and a touchdown, connecting with Jimmy Dunagan for the score.

Next week, Boulder City hosts Virgin Valley to open league play.
