One week after an encouraging defensive performance against perennial power Arbor View, Centennial picked up where it left off and stifled Coronado on Friday night.

The Cougars gained less than 100 total yards, as the Bulldogs bullied their way to a 34-0 victory.

“We’ve done a great job of stopping the run,” Centennial coach Dustin Forshee said. “We’ve prided ourselves on that, and that’s what we have to do here. We’ve focused our whole mindset on it.”

The defensive effort was led by senior linebacker Atoa Pili Eskeets, who’s emerged as one of the standout defensive players in Southern Nevada.

Offensively, Centennial attacked through the air. Sophomore quarterback Colton Tenney threw for more than 200 yards with junior Aaron Johnson serving as his favorite target and hauling in more than 100 yards in receiving.

Junior running back Jordan Smith also eclipsed the century mark in rushing.

Centennial sits at 3-2 heading into a matchup at Faith Lutheran next week, while Coronado heads into a bye week at 2-3.
