A fight over towing fees between a North Las Vegas tow yard employee and a father and son had broken up Thursday night. But as the father and son were driving away, the employee shot into the vehicle, critically injuring the younger man, according to police.

Now, Jason Harris, 28, is in police custody facing two counts of attempted murder and one count each of battery with a deadly weapon and shooting into a structure, City of Las Vegas Jail records show.

As of Friday afternoon, the 28-year-old victim was fighting for his life at University Medical Center, police said.

The single gunshot was fired just before 8 p.m. at the Fast Towing yard at 4220 Donovan Way, near Craig Road and Interstate 15, Officer Eric Leavitt said.

The men arrived at the yard where one of their vehicles had been taken, police said. An argument over the fees turned physical, police said.

“Everyone was separated and the victim and father were leaving in their vehicle when a gunshot rang out,” police said in a news release. The victim was sitting in the passenger side.

The father drove away and called 911, police said.
