A Henderson Police officer shot a suspect after a reported robbery in progress at a convenience store Tuesday night.

The suspect was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the arm, Lt. Kirk Moore said.

Before the shooting, Henderson Police were dealing with a string of robberies at convenience stores, so they’d beefed up patrols, Moore said.

That’s why when they were alerted to a robbery, their response time was fast enough that they surprised a suspect exiting a 7-Eleven at 1453 Boulder Highway, Moore said.

The gunfire was reported shortly before 9 p.m. during a short foot pursuit in the 1400 block of Boulder Highway, near Sunset Road, Moore said. It wasn’t clear if the suspect was armed or if he’d been able to take anything from the store.

The shooting remained under investigation, Moore said.
