The Who performed six of the most electrifying rock concerts ever to hit the Strip in the summer of 2017 at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Now that other rock acts have played the renovated and refurbished venue, Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend and company are ready to return to the Colosseum in 2020. The legendary group has extended its Moving On! Tour and is pairing with local symphony orchestras across North America for a new experience, one that will touch down at the Colosseum for six shows next year on May 5, 7, 9, 12, 14 and 16. Tickets start at $69 and will go on sale December 13.

The shows will feature The Who’s full live band of guitarist Simon Townshend, keyboardist Loren Gold, bassist Jon Button, drummer Zak Starkey and vocalist Billy Nicolls, along with conductor Keith Levenson, violinist Katie Jacoby and cellist Audrey Snyder, plus local symphonic musicians. The band will be playing some songs from “WHO,” its first full-length album in 13 years, set to be released this Friday, December 6.

In other news from the Colosseum, the Reba, Brooks & Dunn residency “Together In Vegas” — performing this week on December 6, 7 and 8 and next week on December 10, 11, 13 and 14 to catch the annual rodeo crowd — will return for 24 shows in its fifth year in 2020. Two dozen performances are scheduled for April, June, October and December of next year and tickets go on sale Friday, December 6.

More show news this week:

Blanc de Blanc” has closed at Sahara Las Vegas. The naughty, high-energy variety show from Australia’s Strut & Fret Production House opened in August and pushed its start time later to 8 p.m. in October. It was scheduled to continue at the former Foundry theater space until January 5 but shuttered abruptly last week. I found it to be fun and full of potential and would love to see it get another chance at a different Vegas venue.

Earth, Wind & Fire was last in Las Vegas at the Venetian in the springtime. The legendary funk-soul group will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2020 and Las Vegas will be part of that celebration when EWF plays five shows at the Pearl at the Palms on May 6, 8, 9, 15 and 16. Tickets for this special engagement go on sale Friday, December 6.

When Harry Connick Jr. played a couple weekends at Encore Theater in 2017, he was balancing the concerts with his daytime talk show schedule, no easy feat. That TV gig has run its course and now he can focus on music, if the multi-talented performer chooses that route. He’ll be back at the luxurious and intimate Wynn showroom for three shows on February 26, 28 and 29 and tickets for those concerts also go on sale Friday, December 6.

Matt Goss is rolling right along with his Sunday night residency at 1 OAK at the Mirage and has extended the gig through April. His cabaret-style show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets start at $25. He returns January 12.

The Mayor’s Fund for Las Vegas LIFE (which stands for Livability, Innovation, Future and Education, its target areas of community need) received a $5,000 donation from Las Vegas entertainment legends Siegfried & Roy. The donation will support youth sports programs in the city of Las Vegas.
