Two pedestrians were killed in separate traffic accidents Monday night, according to Metro Police.

An SUV hit a 51-year-old man about 8:15 p.m. on Craig Road near Jadestone Avenue, police said.

The driver, Oscar Rios Ley, 68, left the scene without providing aid to the victim, who died at University Medical Center, police said.

Ley later returned and was arrested on counts of duty to stop at the scene of an accident, failure to render aid at a vehicle accident and failure to yield to a pedestrian, Clark County Detention Center logs show. Impairment was not suspected, police said.

About 90 minutes later, officers responded to Desert Inn Road, where a car hit a 39-year-old woman who was running across the road near Topaz Street, police said.

The accident occurred as the 71-year-old motorist was trying to avoid a second pedestrian who was running alongside the woman, police said. The Las Vegas woman died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, police said.

The driver was not impaired and remained at the scene, police said.
