An SUV with stolen plates ran a red light in Henderson and hit several pedestrians in a crosswalk Sunday afternoon after an attempted traffic stop, according to police.
A 20-year-old woman, and a man, 56, were admitted to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in critical condition, while a 62-year-old woman suffered minor injuries, Henderson Police said.
The unidentified driver remained at large late Sunday, police said.
About 1:30 p.m., an officer ran the license plate of a white Chevrolet Suburban with Arizona plates BCN1433 at Westminster Way and Collins Drive, Officer Rodrigo Peña said.
When they came back stolen, police tried to pull over the SUV, but the driver didn’t stop, Peña said. Police chased the vehicle but called off the pursuit when it became unsafe, Peña said.
The driver of the SUV ran the red light at Boulder Highway and Lake Mead Parkway, hitting three people in the crosswalk, he said. Four other pedestrians escaped injury, Peña said.
Investigators are looking for the Suburban, which should have front-end damage, police said. Police released a photo of the vehicle, which had vinyl stickers on it promoting a auto detailing business. Update: Henderson Police announced the vehicle was recovered Monday afternoon; the suspect is still at large.
