Letter to the editor:

Is ‘finish’ really what he means?

Fri, Feb 22, 2019 (2 a.m.)

In the ongoing battle with Congress over appropriate measures to control the border, President Donald Trump recently introduced a slogan and banner that says “Finish the Wall.”

I am surprised that his priority would be to “finish” the wall rather than “complete” it. But who am I to question the wisdom of Trump, a self-described genius whose tweets have consistently demonstrated a degree of verbal exactitude that would make Elmer Fudd envious.

So, taking Trump at his word, I respectfully proffer these recommendations on how to “finish the wall.” If the wall is made of wood, we should finish it with lacquer. If it is made of metal, we should apply an oil-based paint.
