President Donald Trump's threat to call the building of his wall a national emergency brings us one more step closer to total dictatorship.
There is no emergency at the border. The number of people crossing into the U.S. has been declining. To suddenly call a situation that has existed for a great many years a national emergency would set a dangerous precedent. It opens the door to calling virtually anything an emergency.
