NDOT announces freeway, ramp closures for Project Neon

Tue, Jan 29, 2019 (2 a.m.)

Southbound Interstate 15 will be closed overnight Wednesday from Spring Mountain to Flamingo roads as part of the Project Neon freeway widening project, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.

The stretch of freeway will be shut down from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 4 a.m. Thursday. The Spring Mountain Road on-ramp to southbound I-15 also will be closed from 9 p.m. Wednesday until 5 a.m. Thursday.

Northbound I-15 from Russell to Flamingo roads will be closed from midnight Thursday until 4 a.m. Friday. In addition, the Tropicana Avenue and Russell Road on-ramps to northbound I-15 will be closed from 11 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday, officials said.

The temporary closures are needed so crews can install electronic signs as part of Project Neon's nearly $1 billion, 4-mile widening of Interstate 15 from the U.S. 95 interchange to Sahara Avenue, officials said. The project is scheduled for substantial completion this summer.
