A massive train derailment in Nevada on Wednesday destroyed dozens of brand new vehicles, according to authorities.

The collision involving 33 train cars took place around 9 a.m. about 30 miles from the border with Utah, Lincoln County Sheriff Kerry Lee told Fox 13 in Salt Lake City.

The sheriff told the station that new Jeep Rubicons and other pickup trucks were destroyed in the accident. Photos of the large mess were posted on the Facebook page of the sheriff's office.

The Union Pacific Railroad "is working to get the area cleaned up and the road back open as quick as they can," the sheriff's office wrote.

The county road impacted by the derailment was expected to reopen on Thursday, but could remain partially closed for 7-10 days.

The train contained cars that were carrying hazardous materials, according to Fox 13, but none of those cars were damaged.

There were no reports of injuries, and an investigation is ongoing.
