The father of a 2-year-old boy who died in February and the man's girlfriend are facing murder, child abuse and conspiracy charges in the child's death.
Court officials say 27-year-old Chad Michael Newman and 36-year-old Haydee Razo are due Wednesday in North Las Vegas Justice Court for a preliminary hearing of evidence in the Feb. 5 death of Jackson James Newman.
Police say the boy, known as JJ, was found unresponsive in a North Las Vegas trailer home that Newman shared with Razo and five other children. JJ was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The Clark County coroner determined June 21 the child died of blunt force injuries and ruled his death a homicide.
Jail records show that Newman was being held on $300,000 bail and Razo on $200,000 bail.
