North Las Vegas Police say they are searching for a reckless driver who hit a woman and her dog on a sidewalk this morning before fleeing.
The 32-year-old woman suffered life-threatening head and spinal injuries, and her dog was killed, police said.
The crash, which was reported about 10 a.m. near West Carey Avenue and Lexington Street, was captured in a graphic 23-second home surveillance video publicly released by police.
The gold Saturn sedan with a faded paint job was heading west on Carey when it careened off the road and hit the woman on the sidewalk, police said.
After the impact, the car skidded, jumped a road divider and fled south on Lexington, police said. The vehicle was located late Sunday near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Washington Avenue, police said.
The car sustained "significant" damage to the front end and passenger side, police said. The airbag was deployed, and debris from the car was left scattered at the scene, police said.
The woman was rushed to University Medical Center in critical condition, police said. The dog died on the spot.
A second video captured the car after the crash.
