A retired Las Vegas police detective has been indicted on a murder charge in what a prosecutor described as the execution-style shooting of her former son-in-law following a visit with his 3-year-old son at her home.
Defense attorney Robert Draskovich said Friday that Pamela Rene Bordeaux will plead not guilty at her arraignment Thursday in state court in Las Vegas.
Bordeaux is 55 and also uses the last name Schoening. She remains jailed without bail.
Draskovich says prosecutors presented the case to a grand jury to keep evidence behind closed doors, but he intends to show the shooting was self-defense.
He says 32-year-old Sean Babbitt posed a threat to Bordeaux and her family.
Prosecutors say Babbitt was shot 10 times April 22 while Babbitt's ex-wife and son were upstairs at Bordeaux's home.
