A man shot and killed his adult son and then threatened suicide before he was arrested at their north valley house Tuesday night, according to Metro Police.

Glenn Harris, 58, was being held at the Clark County Detention Center on a count of murder, jail logs show.

His son, Eric Shaun Harris, 30, died from multiple gunshot wounds, the Clark County Coroner's Office said.

A distraught Glenn Harris summoned officers about 5:10 p.m. to the family home in the 6200 block of Burnt Hills Drive, near Jones Boulevard and Lone Mountain Road, police said. In the 911 call, he “made threats that he was going to barricade and commit suicide,” police said.

The elder Harris’ wife, who was outside the house when officers arrived, told them her husband had shot their son in the garage, police said.

After a brief standoff, Glenn Harris came outside and surrendered, police said. His son was found dead inside, police said.

Glenn Harris was due in court this afternoon.
