President Donald Trump's latest attacks on House Intelligence Committee witnesses are shameful examples of his beastly conduct toward anyone who does not agree with him. His allies are circling the wagons around the president who thinks it's OK to solicit help from a foreign country to help with his re-election campaign. They should be circling the wagons around our 2020 elections.
Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman is a distinguished Army officer who is an expert on Ukraine relations and is on the National Security Council. He was on the phone call with Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and he has been roundly attacked by Trump, with Fox News piling on as well. Russian President Vladimir Putin's desire to undermine U.S. democracy is being carried out by our own people and by conduct unbecoming of our commander in chief.
As we abandon our leadership role in the world, Russia is moving in to fill the void. Putin is eyeing the Baltic states, Scandanavian countries and Poland after he was given the opening to move into Syria by our abrupt withdrawal. The shooting war in Eastern Ukraine has been jeopardized by Trump's machinations with the military aid to our friends in Ukraine.
Putin is flashing his elfin grin more and more these days when he sees our national security being threatened by Trump's miscues. When you denigrate people who are bringing out the facts you don't like, you will reap what you sow. Karma is a powerful thing.
