Link Rhodes caught a 40-yard touchdown pass from DK Alexander with less than two minutes remaining tonight to lead Sunrise Mountain past Rancho, 20-17.

Rancho led 17-0 in the first quarter, but Sunrise Mountain continued “to chip away at the deficit,” coach Josh Bennett said. The winning points came on a fourth-down play.

“It was the first time we have been able to come back,” Bennett said. “Usually when we are down like that, the (points) get piled on us.”

Alexander also had a rushing touchdown for the Miners (3-4 overall), who stay alive in the race for the playoffs in the 3A Sunrise. Jayymece Hayes added a 9-yard scoring run.
