Letter to the editor:

Learn from others’ success

Fri, Apr 3, 2020 (2 a.m.)

Belatedly, President Donald Trump made Vice President Mike Pence the point person for the pandemic. Question: Has Pence investigated what other countries, especially China and South Korea, have done to deal with this disease?

The latest statistics seem to show that China may have gotten a handle, through testing and isolation, on the spread of the virus. If, in fact, China’s success is real, it would seem that that success could be duplicated.

The entire testing process needs to be reorganized, going from some kind of physician-requested testing to more massive screening by monitoring for temperature and other physical symptoms. Then, those with symptoms can then be automatically tested and placed in isolation, if needed. This seems to be a major part of China’s success.
