As expected, the majority-Republican Senate buckled under fear of reprisal from President Donald Trump. He has shown very little restraint during his time in office.
Now, with his acquittal, Trump has no boundaries. The Republicans put their hands on the Bible swore before God. They should have sworn before Trump. Right or wrong, that’s where their allegiance seems to be. Everything they’ve said and done is to placate Trump. Republicans have impeded, distorted and disregarded the Constitution, and the testimony of high-ranking and well-respected people, blatantly denying well-documented facts.
When will the Republicans get a collective backbone? Follow Mitt Romney. Maybe the wake-up call will come when Russian troops march down Pennsylvania Avenue.
