Metro Police say they are searching for a man who punched an elderly passenger on a public bus earlier this month near downtown Las Vegas.

RTC bus attack

The attack, which was captured on surveillance video, happened about 4:45 p.m. on Feb. 3 on a Regional Transportation of Southern Nevada bus near Third Street and Charleston Boulevard, police said today.

The suspect and a woman began arguing with a 71-year-old man over a seat, police said. The suspect then walked up to the elderly man and punched him once in the face, police said.

The suspect got off the bus at the next stop, while the victim was taken to University Medical Center with brain bleeding, police said.

In an unrelated incident, a former U.S. Marine in his 60s was beaten Dec. 13 on an RTC bus in the central valley, police said. The victim lost an eye due to the injuries, police said.

Nathaniel Graves Jr., 26, was arrested Jan. 18 in connection with the attack, police said.

In another high-profile case involving a public bus, a woman shoved a 74-year-old man off an RTC bus in the downtown Las Vegas area after he tried to diffuse her profane outburst, police said. The man later died from his injuries.

Cadesha Michelle Bishop was arrested on a count of murder, police said. She is slated to stand trial in May.

Both of those incidents were also caught on transit bus surveillance video.
