A woman who was shot this afternoon near UNLV is expected to survive, but the gunman was on the run, according to Metro Police.
The shooting was reported about 12:25 p.m. today outside a fast-food restaurant in the 4800 block of South Maryland Parkway, south of Tropicana Avenue, police said. It was believed to be a case of domestic violence, Officer Aden OcampoGomez said.
The victim was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where she was expected to recover, OcampoGomez said.
Police said the woman was shot in the restaurant parking lot and then drove to a nearby bank, where officers were summoned.
University Police Services said there was no apparent threat to the UNLV campus, noting that the gunman was seen fleeing east.
