Teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg was nominated for a Nobel Prize, and our impeached reality TV star playing a president ground his teeth and tried to mock her on Twitter. It didn’t work out well for him.
Donald Trump sent his Treasury secretary, Steve Mnuchin, to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, to represent America. Embarrassing all Americans, the secretary took his cue from Trump instead of his oath of office, and proceeded to lecture Greta, who was also there, saying she should go back to school and learn some economics.
This is a man who is pushing for another tax cut for large corporations and the wealthy under the at-least four-times-debunked trickle-down economic theory, under which money is supposed to trickle down to the middle class and lower. In fact, though, it goes to offshore bank accounts and stock buybacks, leading to larger salaries and bonuses for executives and the like.
The last Trump administration tax cut was paid for by increasing the federal deficit. How long must the American people allow this administration to loot our treasury? The world is watching. We need a real president.
