Two new cases of a coronavirus-related inflammatory syndrome in children have been reported in Clark County, according to the Southern Nevada Health District.

Both patients tested positive for COVID-19 and required hospitalization, officials said. They have since been discharged and are now recovering.

Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children typically appears a couple of weeks after a coronavirus infection. The condition is rare and is still being studied by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The first case in Clark County was reported on June 12.

Some of the symptoms include prolonged fever, low blood pressure, swollen hands and lymph nodes, bloating, diarrhea, abdominal pain and shock.

Health officials advise parents to seek a doctor immediately if they notice symptoms develop in their children. Parents should seek emergency care right away if their child is experiencing trouble breathing or having severe chest or stomach pain.
