President Donald Trump recently signed an executive order to establish a National Garden of American Heroes. That surprised me, as I thought we already recognized and honored many heroes. Arlington National Cemetery is filled with fallen heroes, as are all of our Veterans Memorial Cemeteries.
Here we are in the midst of a pandemic that is ravaging this country, and the president finds time to play his distraction game once again. I wouldn’t be surprised if the next thing he proposes is that the taxpayers commission a statue in his own image that would be placed in his garden of heroes.
It is beyond shameful that Trump seems to encourage people to place themselves in jeopardy by encouraging attendance at his rallies and public appearances, while he refuses to sign an executive order requiring masks in public throughout the country.
I guess the proposed garden is much higher on his list of priorities than the health of Americans.
