LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Report cruelty when you see it

Thu, Jul 16, 2020 (2 a.m.)

Two recent incidents of animal cruelty may have gone unnoticed except for neighbors with a conscience. In one case, a couple left dogs trapped in a cage in the sun for many hours. One dog died and the other barely lived. When Metro Police came and took the temperature inside the cage, it was 145 degrees; they were literally cooking.

In the other case, two women left two dogs in a cage while they were gone to Florida for 20 days, and both dogs died. In both cases, caring neighbors called police to report these abuses. I want to thank them both for doing the right thing and exposing these ignorant people, who should never be allowed to have animals again and hopefully don’t have children.

I encourage anyone who suspects cruelty, whether to animals or people, to call Crime Stoppers and remain anonymous. That number is 702-385-5555. This is our community and we all have a responsibility to speak up for others. If you see something, say something. Remember, many hardcore criminals started out abusing animals.
