LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Rival’s good deed appreciated

Thu, Jul 30, 2020 (2 a.m.)

I had the most wonderful brief encounter recently at the post office.

I had a package, but the line was halfway across the parking lot. I shrugged and went back to the car. I’m 85 and use a cane, and suddenly a young lady said: “I’ll mail that for you.” I was pleasantly surprised but said I didn’t have any cash on me.

She said she’d pay for it. She saw my Cal cap and said, “My name is Debbie and I’m an Oregon Duck from Eugene.” She took my parcel. You’re not a Duck, Debbie, you’re an Angel.
