How do I know if my mail-in ballot was received in Nevada?

Fri, Jun 26, 2020 (2 a.m.)

Nevada voters wondering if their mail-in ballot was counted in the June primary election can find out online.

Voters in Clark County can visit the Clark County registrar’s website or the secretary of state’s website to see which elections they have previously voted in.

On the Clark County registrar’s website, voters can sign in with their name, birthday and the last four digits of their Social Security number to track their ballot. The secretary of state’s office requires a Nevada driver’s license number to sign in. Voter history is available under the voter services menu.

The primary earlier this month was conducted mostly by mail out of coronavirus concerns. To have their ballots counted, voters’ signatures had to match the signature on file with the voting office. According to the Nevada secretary of state’s office, there were 6,749 rejected ballots in the primary because the signatures didn’t match.

Officials reached out to voters whose signatures did not match through the U.S. mail until the Friday after the election. Then they attempted communication by email or phone, if that optional information was included when the voter registered.

Statewide there were 12,366 ballots, or about 2.5% of all cast, that initially were rejected because of missing signatures or signature mismatches, Deputy Secretary of State for Elections Wayne Thorley said Wednesday.

Of those ballots, just under half were counted after election officials contacted voters and confirmed the ballots. The rest were not resolved and were not counted.

Thorley said 252,776 of the ballots sent out were not cast and returned to voting officials as undeliverable.

The secretary of state’s office said there are no plans to hold the November primary election mostly by mail like the June primary.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
