Gov. Steve Sisolak has appointed Lisa Levine, a former political director for Democratic Rep. Dina Titus, to the state Board of Regents.

Levine, the director of government affairs for gaming company IGT, will fill a vacancy left after the death of Regent Sam Lieberman in April.

“As a first-generation graduate of UNLV, Regent Levine knows the difficult road many of our students face as they strive to succeed in higher education,” Nevada System of Higher Education Chancellor Thom Reilley said in a statement.

“Her experience in the public and private sector will help us as we lead our public higher education system through these tumultuous times,” Reilley said.

Levine will represent District 5, which covers parts of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and unincorporated Clark County.

Levine’s term will be completed at the end of this year.

Lieberman, 58, had long been associated with Democratic politics in the state.
