With COVID-19 cases surging throughout Nevada, the remaining two UNLV football games at Allegiant Stadium will be contested without fans in the stands, the university announced today.

Additionally, the initial games of the men’s and women’s basketball season will be played without fans in attendance. Both programs play Nov. 25 at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Home football games against UNR on Oct. 31 and Fresno State on Nov. 7 had a maximum of 2,000 attendees after the university requested permission from Clark County to allow a limited number of fans in the stadium.

But with a stay-at-home order issued last week from the governor’s office, the university quickly took action to keep fans away.

The football program on Nov. 27 hosts Wyoming. The following weekend Boise State comes to town.

“UNLV Athletics will stay abreast of developments and health recommendations to determine if fans are able to attend home basketball games as the seasons progress,” officials wrote in a statement.
