The red, white and blue could have a gold flair at the next big international hockey tournament.

USA Hockey today announced its preliminary roster for the World Junior Championship next month, and it includes Golden Knights first-round pick Brendan Brisson, a freshman forward at Michigan.

USA Hockey announced 29 players to go to Plymouth, Mich., for training camp this weekend, and the list will be trimmed to 25 on Dec. 13. The tournament runs Dec. 25 through Jan. 5 in Edmonton.

Team USA won the gold medal in 2017, the silver in 2018 and the bronze in 2019.

Goalie and 2019 fifth-round pick Isaiah Saville made the U.S. roster last year but did not play.

Brisson would be the first American Golden Knights prospect to play at the World Juniors if he makes it.

As an added bonus for Golden Knights fans, should Brisson make the team and the Americans play Canada, the rivalry game could have a heavy Vegas presence.

Peyton Krebs, the Golden Knights’ first-round pick from 2019, is at Team Canada camp and is expected to make the final roster. Kaedan Korczak, the 2019 second-rounder, and this year’s third-rounder, Lukas Cormier, are in camp as well.

Canada won gold last year and in 2018 and was defeated by the U.S. in the 2017 gold-medal game.

The Golden Knights did not have a first-round pick in 2018, but their three first-rounders from 2017 have all played in the World Juniors.

Cody Glass and Nick Suzuki played for Canada in 2018-19, and Erik Brannstrom has represented Sweden three times.

Other Golden Knights to play at the World Juniors include Pavel Dorofeyev and Ivan Morozov (Russia), Lucas Elvenes (Sweden) and Jonas Rondbjerg (Denmark).
