Gov. Steve Sisolak has appointed the final two members of the state’s new Cannabis Compliance Board.

According to a news release Monday, Sisolak has named Reno physician Bryan Young and former Nevada Dispensary Association Director Riana Durrett to the five-person board.

Former Nevada Supreme Court Chief Justice Michael Douglas, former Nevada Gaming Control Board Chairman Dennis Neilander, and Las Vegas banking executive Jerrie Merritt were appointed to the board earlier this year.

The board, which oversees regulation of Nevada’s cannabis industry, was born out of the 2019 state legislative session under Assembly Bill 533.

In the release, Sisolak lauded Durrett’s “unique understanding” of the state’s cannabis industry, and referred to Young as a “competent and compassionate” physician.

“I greatly appreciate the opportunity to serve the state in its work ensuring cannabis regulation is effective and benefits the residents of Nevada,” Durrett said. “It’s an honor and I look forward to working with the other board members.”

The board, which has met three times this year, will hold its next meeting Oct. 20.
