A 43-year-old man who exchanged gunfire with Metro Police on Monday was arrested hours later, according to jail booking logs.

Shane Justin Lloyd is facing two counts of assaulting an official with a deadly weapon, and one count each of assault with a deadly weapon, illegally discharging a gun, drug possession and being a felon in possession of a deadly weapon, Las Vegas Justice Court records show.

Lloyd was scheduled to appear in court today.

Officers responded about 3:10 a.m. Monday to an apartment complex near Pecos Road and Tropicana Avenue, where someone reported a possible shooting, Capt. Sasha Larkin said.

As police were checking on residents to make sure no one was hurt, they encountered a person with an outstanding restraining order, Larkin said.

While they were handling that, a man approached them and opened fire, prompting police to shoot back, Larkin said.

Officers chased the man, who turned around and shot more rounds, Larkin said. Police again returned fire, she said.

The suspect got away but was later taken into custody, authorities said.

Details of the arrest have not been disclosed.
