Another $20 million has been added to a grant program to help small businesses and nonprofits recover from the coronavirus pandemic, doubling the amount of money available, Nevada officials said.

The application deadline is 5 p.m. Thursday.

“I remain committed to ensuring the state help small businesses get the support they need and deserve at this time,” Gov Steve Sisolak said in a statement.

The program prioritizes bars, pubs, taverns, breweries and distilleries, Sisolak said. It will also prioritize business owned by women, minorities, veterans or those with a disability.

Businesses with fewer than 50 employees and annual gross revenue less than $4 million qualify for the program. Most businesses will be able to qualify for a maximum of $10,000.

Arts and cultural organizations and chambers of commerce serving more than 10 businesses can receive up to $20,000.

To qualify, businesses must have a physical location in Nevada, have an active business license prior to March, be in good standing with the state and be able to demonstrate financial hardship related to the pandemic. Home-based businesses are eligible.

“We are excited to be able to help thousands of Nevadans who’ve been hit the hardest during the pandemic through this program,” state Treasurer Zach Conine said. “We are working to quickly approve and process applications to get money into the hands of Nevada small businesses as soon as possible.”

Applications are available on the Governor’s Office of Economic Development website.
