Democrats leading Republicans in early voting turnout

With about a week and a half to go until Election Day, almost a third of Nevada voters have already cast their ballots.

Overall, Democrats led Republicans by 48,213 votes cast statewide, according to the Nevada Secretary of State's Office.

As of today, 571,046 people had voted either by mail or at an early voting site. Early voting runs until Oct. 30, and the total number of ballots cast so far is fast approaching the 702,387 cast in 2016 during early voting.

Democrats have gained an early lead in mail-in voting, with registered Democratic voters having cast 177,322 ballots by mail. Registered Republicans have cast 99,355 ballots by mail.

Republicans, meanwhile, have seen higher turnout at in-person early voting sites, with 99,808 Republican ballots cast. Democrats have cast 70,054 ballots at early voting sites.

Voters in the “other” category have cast 82,439 mail-in ballots and 41,618 in-person ballots.

Broken down by percentage, Democrats accounted for 43.4% of ballots cast, Republicans 34.8% and voters in the “other” category 21.72%.

The state’s two urban centers in Clark and Washoe counties are driving turnout, with 330,803 ballots cast in Clarkand 167,522 in Washoe.

In Clark County, 168,628 people have cast their ballots in person.

The Centennial Center shopping mall has seen the highest turnout, with 10,892 voters casting ballots there, according to the Clark County Elections Department.

Two other sites, the Galleria at Sunset in Henderson and the Las Vegas Ballpark in Summerlin, have had over 9,000 voters.

The Neighborhood Recreation Center in North Las Vegas and the Parkdale Recreation and Senior Center in Sunrise Manor have had the lowest turnout, with neither reaching 1,000 voters.

Statewide, 359,116 voters have submitted mail-in ballots, of which 190,056 were sent in from Clark County and 52,744 from Washoe.
