A woman Metro Police allege killed her neighbor and then fled their apartment complex Saturday night, leaving her two children behind, has been arrested.

Toalian Banks, 34, was booked Monday at the Clark County Detention Center, jail logs show. It wasn’t clear what charges she is facing.

Banks instigated a fight with the victim’s girlfriend, who was walking through the complex’s courtyard in the 2900 block of Marlin Avenue, near Stewart Avenue and 28th Street, police said.

When Banks pushed the woman, several neighbors stepped in to intervene, police said. That’s when Banks pepper sprayed the group, pulled a gun and shot the woman’s boyfriend, who was trying to break up the fight, police said.

Banks drove away, leaving her two children at her apartment, Metro Lt. Ray Spencer said. The children were turned over to Clark County Child Protective Services, he said.

The neighbors had an ongoing dispute, which included complaints about a barking dog, Spencer said.

Details about Banks’ arrest were not immediately available.
