Head of Nevada Gaming Control Board stepping down

Sandra Douglass Morgan is resigning as chairwoman and executive director of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, Gov. Steve Sisolak said today.

Morgan will step down effective Nov. 6.

Sisolak said he would announce he replacement in the near future.

Morgan will be “greatly missed, but her leadership and ability to put together a talented team has left the state in a great position to fill the role with another accomplished individual,” Sisolak said in a statement.

Morgan also issued a statement, saying working with the board has been the “honor of a lifetime.” She said she was leaving for a “professional opportunity.”

Morgan, a lawyer, took over as chairwoman in January 2019, replacing Becky Harris.

She previously worked as director of external affairs for AT&T Services Inc. for Southern Nevada and as a litigation attorney for what is now MGM Resorts International.

Shealso served as North Las Vegas city attorney and was the first Black city attorney in the state.
