Sun issues correction, apology on Rodimer editorial

Wed, Sep 2, 2020 (11:17 a.m.)

A Sun editorial published Aug. 24 contained a significant factual error about Nevada congressional candidate Dan Rodimer. The editorial stated that Rodimer was a “convicted criminal” with a battery conviction on his record stemming from a 2010 incident in Florida, but that was incorrect.

Instead, Rodimer entered a deferred prosecution agreement. He admitted to committing the offense of battery in that agreement, but did not plead guilty to the charge. Rodimer completed a six-week anger management course, and prosecutors agreed not to continue the case against him.

The Sun regrets the error and apologizes to Rodimer and his family for it. Rodimer is a Republican attempting to unseat incumbent Susie Lee in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District.
