The Golden Knights might not be playing at T-Mobile Arena, but that doesn’t mean fans can’t throw on their favorite jersey and watch a game there.
The Golden Knights, in the midst of a deep Stanley Cup Playoffs run, are renting out luxury suites at T-Mobile to watch games being played in the NHL’s coronavirus “bubble” in Canada.
Up to 10 people can rent a suite for $2,000 and enjoy a catered experience while watching the game on TVs and the arena’s Knight Tron scoreboard. About two dozen suites are available for rent.
As of Wednesday afternoon, suites were still available for today’s Game 3 Western Conference Finals matchup between Vegas and the Dallas Stars.
For Game 4 on Saturday, the suites are sold out, Golden Knights president Kerry Bubolz said.
The program, which the team is calling Open the Fortress, is a way to offer an in-person viewing experience in a safe way, Bubolz said.
“We wanted to find ways to get fans back together,” he said. “During our first two years, we had so much success with our watch parties at different venues throughout this entire market.”
The team has been renting out suites since Sept. 3, when Vegas played Vancouver in a Western Conference semifinal series. Vegas lost 4-0 but went on to win the series and advance to the conference finals.
“That first game didn’t go well, but the watch parties were very successful,” Bubolz said. “It’s a completely touchless, private experience, and we stagger the arrival times of guests for social distancing purposes.”
Guests are also required to wear face masks when they aren’t eating or drinking.
No Open the Fortress dates have been set beyond Saturday.
“If the team keeps advancing, hopefully we can keep adding to the experience,” Bubolz said. “I think that’s one of the things that people miss the most during the pandemic — being able to come together to experience this great run the team is on. It was fun last week. People were dressed with all their gear on, just like if they were going to a regular Golden Knights game. It’s a great sense of pride for our organization.”
