I agree with the Sept. 11 story, “Old male elephants: Don’t count them out.”
I am one of those “old male elephants.” I’ve been ignored for years; because I’m a straight male, over 70 years old, conservative and I vote. Perhaps it’s time for everyone to pay attention to us.
I pay taxes every year and I vote (in person) for every election. I support charities and do volunteer work.
I’ve never been late on any bill, ever. My obligations are less than my income and they always have been.
My transportation is a 7-year-old vehicle that I bought from a rental vehicle company when it was a year old.
Where did I get these values? They’re from another “old male elephant,” my father.
Really, I’m nothing special, just an American. Don’t count me out.
