Corlene Bryd, art director for Las Vegas Weekly, was among the winners honored by the Association of Alternative Newsmedia in the 2020 AAN Awards announced this week.
Byrd snagged first place in editorial layout for her design “Pot Culture: What To Watch, Eat and Listen To While You’re Enjoying 420,” which explores the culture and meaning of the celebration within the cannabis industry. The award comes with a commemorative plaque and $100 in prize money.
In its 24th year, AAN selected winners from a field of 526 entries submitted by 55 alternative publications across the United States, Canada and Norway.

Second place in editorial layout, “Henderson: There’s Something for Everyone in One of the Nation’s Fastest-Growing Cities.”
Second place for best illustration, “Pot Culture” by Zach Meyer, and an honorable mention for illustration, “Electric Daisy Carnival Lights Up The Desert” by Sergio Vasquez.
