Health care agencies and providers in metro Las Vegas are moving to implement Nevada's previously announced decision to increase age-based eligibility for COVID-19 vaccinations to include people 16 or older.

University Medical Center of Southern Nevada said Friday it was accepting online signups for appointments next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at its vaccination center at Encore Las Vegas.

Also, the Southern Nevada Health District said newly eligible people starting Saturday can make online signups for vaccination appointments beginning Monday at sites that include Cashman Center and Las Vegas Convention Center.

Both UMC and the district said online appointments would go fast.

“Appointments will continue to become available, and everyone who wants the vaccine will be able to get it," the district said in a statement.
