Fire prompts evacuation of Pearson Community Center

The Pearson Community Center was evacuated this morning after a reported electrical fire caused sprinklers to activate, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue officials.

Nobody was injured.

The fire was reported about 7:40 a.m. at the center in the 1700 block of Carey Avenue. The fire caused minor smoke in the building, officials said.

The blaze was extinguished and contained to one room, officials said. The cause is under investigation.

The center, which does not open to the public until 8 a.m., includes a fitness center, computer center and rooms for meetings and activities.
