LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

World’s population is unsustainable

Tue, Apr 13, 2021 (2 a.m.)

Every action taken by humanity, or which could be taken by humanity, will fail to prevent climate change from causing major catastrophes to occur in the near future, resulting in the deaths of millions or billions of people, unless population growth ceases.

According to the latest projections made by the United Nations, population is expected to increase by 3.2 billion (about 40%) between now and the year 2100, reaching 10.9 billion in that year.

Not only must population growth cease, current population numbers must immediately and substantially be reduced to prevent the catastrophes that will be caused by global warming.
