A 26-year-old motorist was killed this morning in a crash in northwest Las Vegas, according to Metro Police.
The crash occurred shortly before 10 a.m. at Lake Mead Boulevard and Springfield Street, just northwest of Rampart Boulevard.
A preliminary investigation determined that the crash victim, who was eastbound in a 2019 Dodge Charger, tried to pass a car, but struck it in an attempt to cut it off, police said.
The motorist lost control of his car, entered landscape, and hit and uprooted a tree as the car overturned.
The Las Vegas man died at the scene, police said.
This was the 32nd traffic fatality Metro has investigated this year, and the second one probed today.
