The mother of a man gunned down at a Las Vegas gas station last month pleaded today for help identifying her son’s killer.

“I just need help trying to solve this case because he didn’t deserve what he got,” said Maria Levi, whose son Kashif J. Brown was killed March 22 in what police said appeared to be a random attempted robbery. “He was a good guy. He was a good soul.”

Metro Police today released surveillance video of the shooting. “You could have the answer that could give this family behind me closure,” Metro Lt. Ray Spencer said as he and members of Brown’s family stood at the crime scene.

Brown was headed to work when he stopped about 3:30 a.m. at the Circle K at Alta Drive and Valley View Boulevard, Spencer said.

The 24-year-old father of three started pumping gas into his SUV and headed into the convenience store before walking back out, Spencer said. A man in a dark gray Chrysler 300 pulled up to a pump next to Brown, got out and fired multiple shots, Spencer said.

Brown died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

The gunman, who was accompanied by a female passenger, appeared to be casing the store or its customers before he targeted Brown, Spencer said. He was parked at the store for about 10 minutes before the shooting, he said.
