A motorist was killed and another jailed on a DUI count following a crash Sunday in east Las Vegas, according to Metro Police.

Osmany Fernandez-Martinez was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a felony DUI count, his third DUI offense, according to Las Vegas Justice Court logs.

Fernandez-Martinez, 48, was scheduled to appear in court this afternoon, logs show.

The crash occurred about 3:30 p.m. Sunday at South Lamb Boulevard and New York Avenue, near Wyoming Avenue, police said.

Fernandez-Martinez was heading south on Lamb in a Mazda 6 when he hit a Toyota Camry that was headed east on New York and had just passed through a stop sign, police said. The Camry then hit a pickup truck, police said.

The 49-year-old Las Vegas resident driving the Toyota died at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, police said.

Fernandez-Martinez suffered minor injuries, police said.

The suspect was charged with misdemeanor DUI in 2014, in a case in which he failed to surrender his driver's license and failed to appear in court and DUI school, which led to two bench warrants, logs show.

The case was ultimately closed when he completed all requirements, logs show.

The death was the 79th traffic fatality on Metro-patrolled roads this year, police said.
