A man killed himself Thursday after shooting into his ex-girlfriend’s home in Pahrump and opening fire on deputies, according to the Nye County Sheriff’s Office.

Jordan Nelson, 33, shot himself after a lengthy standoff with deputies on Dana Way, authorities said.

Deputies responded about 3:30 p.m. after Nelson shot into his ex-girlfriend’s home, narrowly missing people inside, the sheriff’s office said.

When they showed up at Nelson’s home about a mile away, they immediately came under gunfire, the sheriff’s office said.

A police cruiser was hit, but nobody was injured, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies did not return fire, the sheriff’s office said.

A negotiator was summoned, but Nelson refused to speak with them, the sheriff’s office said. About two hours later, deputies forced their way into the home and found Nelson gravely wounded, the sheriff’s office said.

Nelson was taken to a hospital, where he died, the sheriff’s office said.
