The favorite to win the class 4A state championship in high school football will be known on Friday night.

That’s when Silverado hosts Shadow Ridge, and Coronado visits Basic in a battle of four teams each with state-championship aspirations.

The re-imagined classification moves powerhouses like Bishop Gorman and Liberty to the class 5A, paving the way for teams such as Shadow Ridge to not only compete for the playoffs but have a lengthy postseason run.

On this episode of Prep Sports Now, we preview all of the Week 2 matchups and take a look back at some of the highlights from last week’s action. Take a listen:

Looking ahead to Week 2

We’ll learn much about the class 4A in the second week of the high school football season with Shadow Ridge traveling to Silverado, and Basic hosting Coronado. All four teams appear to be state-championship hopefuls.
